Florida's Issue Campaigns

A massive social media campaign to increase awareness of the importance of the waiver in helping to maintain an individual’s independence and inclusion within their community. 
There are more than 21,000 Floridians with disabilities waiting for the Florida iBudget Medicaid Waiver that will allow them access to vital services they need to live independently. The Florida Center for Inclusive Communities at the University of South Florida initiated the ongoing DD Waitlist Campaign prior to the 2017 Legislative Session. Pay Fair For Care is a joint effort of the Florida Developmental Disabilities Council, the Arc of Florida, and the Florida Association of Rehabilitation Facilities. Its mission is to secure salary increases for workers who provide direct care to people with disabilities. Although agencies throughout the state have advocated for increases to provider rates for many years, Pay Fair For Care was formally initiated prior to the 2018 Legislative Session.
