Got something to share? We’re excited to invite self-advocates to share their experiences with the greater disability community at the 2025 Florida Self-Advocacy Conference in August.
This 2025 conference theme is The Power of Our Voices, which focuses on increasing the influence of the self-advocate voice in Florida’s disability movement. Additionally, the theme focuses on promoting grassroots advocacy in local communities around key issues like transportation, accessibility, self-determination, housing, healthcare, and more.Â

Hosted by the FL SAND Fellows, The Power of Our Voices: The 2025 Self-Advocacy Conference will be August 22-24 at the Florida Hotel and Conference Center in Orlando.Â
Prospective presenters are encouraged to submit presentation proposals to fit the themes of the conference, as well as include activities to engage their audience. Preference will be given to active FL SAND members and self-advocates. Proposals are due June 23 at 5:00 PM EST. You can find the proposal application on the conference page. Presenters will be notified in July.Â
The biennial Florida Self-Advocacy Conference, formerly known as the FL SAND Conference, is the largest gathering devoted to self-advocacy in the state. More than 140 self-advocates, their allies, parents, and providers are expected in support of the self-advocacy movement in Florida. We are looking forward to seeing your proposals and seeing you at this year’s conference. You can register for the conference right here. The FL SAND Fellows is a project of the Florida Developmental Disabilities Council.
