What's the next goal on your professional journey as a self-advocate? Maybe you've graduated from Partners in Policymaking, have a job you love, or are still looking for an opportunity to make a difference and help others with disabilities.

The FL SAND Fellows Leadership Program may be that perfect next step.

The FL SAND Fellows is a paid, immersive training program for experienced self-advocate leaders committed to expansion of their advocacy skills and experience, as well as development in the areas of problem solving, leadership, and organizational management.

In addition to training, Fellows complete real work assignments that range from providing technical assistance to the FL SAND board of directors and network of local self-advocacy groups, to developing training in advocacy-related topics through FL SAND’s Breaking Barriers Training Academy.

Since the Fellows Program started four years ago, Fellows have worked hands-on to plan and facilitate two statewide conferences, deliver training to hundreds of self-advocates and other stakeholders in Florida, and mentor leaders and coordinate the operation of the FL SAND nonprofit organization. Fellows emerge from the program with resume-building, hands-on experience and heightened skills in disability advocacy.

Fellowships are customized to the applicant's professional situation. Some Fellows already work full-time, others just part-time. The time commitment spans from 4-8 hours a week.

Join us for an information session on the Fellows Program July 1 at 7 PM (Eastern) via Zoom. Program coordinators and Fellows will be there to answer all your questions. Applications for the next group of Fellows are due by the end of August. Head to this link for the Zoom information and more information about the FL SAND Fellows.

The FL SAND Fellows Leadership Program is provided and funded by the Florida Developmental Disabilities Council.
